What’s in a name?
The farm on which our countrystore stands has been called “Charity Farm” since
the 16th century when it, together with a number of other local farms, was
purchased by a local charity. This charity operated these farms for the benefit of
the local poor for many years, but the farm was eventually sold into private ownership in the 1930s, and bought by the Clarke family in 1950, although retaining the unusual name.
