About Us

Welcome to Charity Farm, situated in the heart of the Weald of Kent, just outside the historic market town of Cranbrook. We are the main supplier of animal and pet feed locally, and we cover a range of products for country living.

This family run business has been passed through the generations for over seventy years, evolving from mixed farming to speciailising in poultry, and then to the countrystore that stands today.

We now offer a comprehensive range of feeds across our pet, equestrian and smallholder departments, as well as bedding equipment, accessories, healthcare products, and our own hay and straw. Our unique store also houses departments in outdoor living, country leisure, wildlife and fashion clothing, because life in the country doesn’t mean a life in green wellies. Speaking of which, we have those too. From budget friendly to premium brands, our technical clothing and footwear will have you ready, whatever the weather!

Our friendly staff are on-hand to help, and our SQP trained staff can offer advice on animal health products including wormers and flea treatment products. If you’re unsure of anything, please feel free to come in for a chat or give us a call. We also offer a mid-week delivery service to the local area, please contact us to inquire.

In May 2023 we opened our cafe, The Trough. Specialising in all-day breakfasts, The Trough’s menu includes an delicious range of brunch and lunch items and can be found here. The locally sourced specialty coffee is a favourite!

Our History

The farm on which our countrystore stands has been called “Charity Farm” since the 16th century when it, together with a number of other local farms, was purchased by a local charity. This charity operated these farms for the benefit of the local poor for many years, but the farm was eventually sold into private ownership in the 1930s, and bought by the Clarke family in 1950, although retaining the unusual name.
